Hazel, a native of Basile, had resided in Vinton for 70 years before moving to a care center in Orange. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. Before she became ill, she loved working Bingo sessions for the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed playing Pokeno with her friends.
Survivors include her son, Ronald L. Fregia, Sr. and his wife Jean of Orange; sister, Elsie Broussard of Sulphur; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jasper “Bill” Fregia; and her daughter, Judith Ann Blanc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Interment will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South of Carlyss. Visitation will be held in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton 5 - 8pm Monday, with a Rosary at 6 p.m. and will resume Monday at 8:30- 10:45 a.m. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
