James Paul Chatelain, 64, of Vinton passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 surrounded by his family.
James was raised in Marksville and resided in Crowley for many years before moving to Vinton 24 years ago. He was a crane operator in the construction industry, working mainly in the road/bridge construction field. He enjoyed watching Fox News and discussing politics. James was a quiet man and took pride in being a "workaholic." He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his beloved yellow Labrador, "Abigail".
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Mary Chatelain; son, Cory Chatelain of Vinton; two brothers, John Thomas Chatelain of TN; and Mark Chatelain of Lake Charles; and nephews, Christopher Melancon of Crowley and Sean Levins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Rose Chatelain; and sister, Ann Melancon.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Jody Barrilleaux will be the Celebrant. Visitation will be 2 - 6pm Tuesday. Words of comfort and memories may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
