Johnnye B. Daly

VINTON - Johnnye Boykin Daly, 94, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 peacefully in her sleep.

She was a native of Grosbeck, Texas and resided in Southwest Louisiana before Mr. Daly's job allowed the family to live abroad in Ghana, Scotland, Holland, Morocco, and Peru before settling in Vinton 31 years ago. She was a homemaker who enjoyed making dolls, riding Harleys, driving racing cars, and growing tropical flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchild. She will be remembered for her generous and loving nature. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include two sons, Major Thad Daly and wife, Debbie of Vinton and Jack T. Daly of Dripping Springs, Texas; one daughter, Polly R. Stewart of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Jennifer Stewart, John Stewart, Sarah Barton, Matthew Daly, Bonita Doyle, Gina Slaughter, Ben Jamin Daly, Wil Shine Daly, Ana Rose Daly, Jackson Daly, Elly Woods, Matt Vickers and Joseph Woods; nine great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and one sister, Nell Shipp of Rankin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Athy “Jack” Daly; daughter, Margaret Nanette Slaughter; son who followed her in death on January 7, 2015, John Thomas Daly and sister, Pauline Rodgers.

Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Josh Waters will officiate. Interment will follow in Cormier Cemetery of Vinton.
