Mark Allan Simon, age 64, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in Eureka, Kansas. Mark was born July 1, 1958 in Port Arthur, Texas but was a lifelong resident of Vinton. He enjoyed hunting, ranching, traveling, gardening, and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren and sharing in their many accomplishments.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of nearly 43 years, Shirley Simon; his mother, Florence Simon; daughters, Angela Findley (Dr. Larry Jr.), Kerri Simon Kelly, and Julie Coleman (David, Jr.), all of Vinton; his sister, Carolyn Collette of Groves, Texas; and his brother, Norris Simon Jr. (Peggy) of Port Acres, Texas. Mark also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, Caleb, Larry III, Kaylee, Lance, Kenzie, Kieran, Kaileb, Cade, Layton, Demond, Kenna, Dru "Summertime", Karsyn and Kason; eleven great-grandchildren; along with two great-grandchildren on the way.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Norris Simon Sr.; along with his father-in-law, Eugene "Jinks" Morgan, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:30 am, with Father Samuel Bond officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, Louisiana on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:30 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, from 8:00 am until the procession to the church.
