Mary Janet Chatelain, 70, of Vinton, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Mary was born in Gueydan on May 31, 1955 to Norris and Naomi Bertrand. Mary was a loving, helpful and kind person who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed trying new restaurants and spending time with her best friends, Connie and Carolyn.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, James Paul Chatelain; her parents; brother, Ronald Bertrand; and sister, Alice Bertrand.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Cory Chatelain of Vinton; and her brothers, Ken Bertrand of Vinton and Robert Bertrand of Beaumont, Texas .
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 pm on Thursday , March 12, 2026 at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Hixson Celebrant Jody Tyler will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 pm until the time of service.
