Preston was of the Baptist Faith and a child of God. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. After serving his country, he returned home to Vinton, married his bride, and joined the Painters Local. Preston worked as a residential painter and paper hanger for over 60 years. Preston was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul Douglas Fontenot, parents, Preston Pierre Benoit, Sr. and Edith Addison Benoit, a sister, Berna Ruth Benoit Eady, nephew, Jimmy Eady and a brother, Addison Benoit.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 71 years, Annie Evelyn "Kitty" Perkins Benoit; four children, Linda Jean Benoit Akin and husband, Mike of Hockley, TX, Donna Kay Benoit Frederick and husband, Rick of Lake Charles, Terry Wayne Benoit of Vinton, and David Lynn Benoit and wife, Stephanie of Salado, TX; six grandchildren, Matthew Scott Fontenot and wife, Christine, Joshua Daniel Fontenot and wife, Uun, Amber Nicole Frederick, Autumn Michelle Frederick Miller and husband, Buck, Beau Grayson Benoit and wife, Morgan, and Cade Preston Benoit and fiance, Lauren; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Madison, Jackson Fontenot, and Arthur Benoit; niece, Glenda Eady Lodge; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux will lead services.
