Russell worked for Turner Industries for many years as a Boilermaker. Russell coached baseball and football for Ward 7 Recreation. He also enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Saints, listening to zydeco music, binge watching western movies, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Furbie Moody, brother, Preston "Pat" Moody, sister, Marie Courville, and nephews, Mark Courville and Clem Doucet.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Debbie Lestage Moody; six children: Lance Tucker and wife, Allie of Lake Charles; Amanda Maddox and husband, Paul of Vinton; Russell Moody, Jr. of Vinton; Tabitha East and husband, Lance of Sulphur; Brandon Moody and Paige Moody both of Vinton; 12 grandchildren, Janson, Ashton, Gavin, Cassidy, Emma, Wyatt, Jazmine, Karmyn, Sophia, Koven, Millie, and Z'nyia; 7 sisters and 3 brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Carlos Garcia officiating. Pallbearers will be Brandon Moody, Janson Tucker, Ashton Tucker, Wyatt East, Gavin Maddox, and Daniel Landry. Honorary pallbearer will be Koven Dwyer. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery in Orange, Texas, 4320 Meeks Dr. Orange, Texas 77632
