Winnifred Winnie Baker Johnson

Winnie was a native of Vinton, Louisiana, and was born in Sour Lake, Texas on January 10, 1918, to Harvey and Agnes Baker. Winnie was Valedictorian of the Class of 1936 at Hackberry High School. She was a member of Welsh Memorial United Methodist Church of Vinton. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Vinton Chapter of the Eastern Star, and a past member of the Vinton Literary Club.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Buddy Johnson and wife Judy of Winnie, Texas, and Don Johnson and wife Diana of Sulphur; daughter Carla Henry and husband Mike of Clearlake, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband M.S. Bud Johnson, son John Boyd Johnson.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 9, in Welsh Memorial United Methodist Church of Vinton. The Rev. Kathy Fitzhugh will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
