Zona was born September 25, 1942 becoming the eighth and last child of Jules and Mathilde.
Merlin, Chester, Wanda, Hewton, Shirley, Jeanette, Glenda, Zona, are also known as the “original” eight.
….or ……………“YOURS”
Sadly, Mathilde passed away four months before Zona’s second birthday.
In 1951, Jules met and married Viola and she became Zona’s champion. We know she loved and cared
for Zona as much as her birth children.
Viola brought Amy and Nathaniel, (Jr) . Also known as “MINE”
Viola and Jules then had Rhonda, Cynthia, and Ronnie….known as “OURS”
Being there was such a large span between the first and last sibling, we did not all live in the same house
at the same time. However, that did not stop us from caring and loving each other as yours, mine, and
ours did and do.
Zona lived in Oak Park nursing home on 1 st avenue in Lake Charles then moved to Landmark Care center.
Bobby Judd, also a tenant at Oak Park moved to Landmark as well. They were the two longest residents
at Landmark. Ironically, Bobby Judd passed away one week before Zona. I loved listening to Zona talk
about Bobby. Whatever he told her she took to the bank. It was always good advice thank goodness.
Zona enjoyed outings with the family but would always want to hurry back to her comfort zone at
Landmark. Her favorite thing to do other than smoking was watching game shows. Especially Family
Feud and Cash cab.
Everyone at Landmark loved her. She did have some rowdy times but had good reason. She was mostly
soft spoken and kind hearted. She liked giving everyone in the nursing home a different name including
herself.
She could tell you every single one of her brothers and sisters birth dates. Her eyes would light up when
she saw us coming through the door. Her sense of humor normally came out of nowhere and we loved
listening to her.
Through all the bad and hard times we are still so grateful to have had her in our lives. There are a lot of
lessons to learn in this lifetime.
Zona received the anointing of the sick/last rites on July 16 th .

Zona is survived by her siblings, Rhonda Courmier, Ronald J. Broussard, Glenda Reeves, Jeanette Egan, Hewton J. "Bud" Broussard, Chester Broussard, Cynthia Sartin, Nathaniel Soileau, Jr., Wanda Staley, Shirley Broussard, and Amy Mondragon. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mathilde Broussard, her father, Jules Broussard, step-mother, Viola Broussard, brother, Merlin Broussard, and her husband, Mark Rambin.
A graveside service to honor Zona's memory will be Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, at 11:00 am. Service will be officiated by Monsignor Dubois.
