Mrs Tarr made a HUGE difference in my life. She was our senior class sponsor — class of 1981!  She provided support, guidance and had a zest for life that helped me as I navigated this transition. My dad died when I was 2and my mom when I was 16– was adopted and cared for but Mrs Tarr certainly added to it !  I became a teacher — May her soul be at rest. 

This saddens my heart. Ms. Tarr was one of those special one-of-a-kind people & teachers. I have nothing but great memories of her. She had a fantastic sense of humor, she built us up in so many ways and was fun to be around while always getting the job done that needed to done - done in the most efficient and effective way. Her sense of humor- she took our class to the Nutcracker and my mum was a chaperone. In a deadpan face & voice in front of my mum she said, “Chris, you’re wrong, your Mom’s not a witch.” I was dumbfounded and looked more shocked than my mum 🤣  I came to class one day in a black dress, yellow jacket and heels and she told me I could be one of the models on the Robert Plant video. Who would of thought our yearbook advisor was watching MTV 🥰 And what a compliment for a 16-year-old (of course I am sure that was the look I was going for 😭). She had way of connecting with all of us and making us smile. Ms. Tarr thank you - you will be missed by many. Granny HS was so fortunate to have you. 

An was my best friend when I was growing up.  She was 8 years older and I always looked to her for advice. I visited her every year and spent weeks with her at her different naval locations every summer.  A piece of my heart is breaking and I will never forget her.  She was my second mom and my best friend.

Thank you, Ms. Tarr, for not only being a wonderful English teacher, but also an engaged and patient yearbook advisor.  Almost 40 years later, I still find myself referring to the lessons you taught us, whether I'm creating social media posts for my small business, writing a letter or proofreading anything. Mrs. Tarr was a mentor to me at Granby High School.  As a young teacher, I learned a lot from her about how to teach English to reluctant learners, and she instilled  in my a love of Forensics.  She was kind and thoughtful and intelligent, and she will be missed.  Rest in peace dear friend.
