Charles Frederick Temple

Charles F. Temple, 89, of Virginia Beach passed away on April 16, 2018, at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital. Charlie was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Frederick W. Temple and the late Mary F. Temple. He has been a resident of Virginia Beach for 53 years. Charlie was an army veteran and a graduate of Wake Forest College. He retired from Bemis Co. Inc. after 38 years. He volunteered for the Red Cross for 10 years, was a member of the Kempsville Ruritans and was a member of Community United Methodist Church. He has always been a loving and devoted husband, father and friend. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Marilu; his children Scott Temple of Norfolk, Virginia; Janet Hitchings and husband Steve of Ooltewah, Tennessee; his sister Carol Poole of California; grandchildren Lacey Lunsford and husband David of Kathleen, Georgia; Corey Hitchings and wife Emily of Commerce, Georgia; great grandsons Mason and Brayden Lunsford; extended family and lifelong friends. The family will receive visitors from 11-11:30 on Thursday, April 19th, at Smith and Williams Funeral Home Kempsville Chapel with the service immediately following. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kempsville Volunteer Fire Department.
