Dolores Alzate Alcantara, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. She was the wife of late Jose Tejada Alcantara for 53 years and a resident of Virginia Beach, VA. Born February 10, 1935 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo Alzate. She graduated from Far Eastern University, Accounting. She came to the United States in 1974. Dolores retired from Norfolk Naval Air Station with 20 years of service as a Budget Assistant. She was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church for over 49 years, and a dedicated leader who made a big impact on the Filipino community. She served 20 years as President of Mrs. Philippines and Court and President of Women’s Club at PCC. She is survived by two children, Joselito Alzate Alcantara and Jennifer Alcantara Bertagnolli and her husband, Chris Ray Bertagnolli both of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren, Brittney, Joshua, Julian, Jordan and Joelle Alcantara; Madeline and Juan Carlos Bertagnolli. Visitation will be at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA on Tuesday March 28, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted by Father Matt Kiehl at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1396 Lynnhaven Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 10 a.m. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations can be made to American Diabetes Association or American Parkinson Association.
