Doris B. Sumner

Mrs. Sumner was born in Chowan County, North Carolina and resided most of her life in Virginia Beach. She was preceded in death by her parents Ned and Roxie Bunch and her husband Carson Sumner.

Mrs. Sumner served as a Clerk in the Treasurer's Office in Virginia Beach for ten years and thirty years with the DOD Naval Supply Center. She was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church for forty-four years.

Survivors include three children, Denise Wilkins and husband Mike, Rick Sumner, Debbie White and husband Jim; five grandchildren Heather Stevens and husband Andrew, Brandon Holsonback, Ian Wilkins and wife Erica, Mark White and wife Chelsea and Melissa Barnes and husband Rob; three great grandchildren Ellie and Oliver Stevens and Waylon White and a brother Leon Bunch.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 12, from 9 until 10am at Smith & Williams Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10a.m. by Dr. Kelly J. Burris. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
