

She was born May 4, 1928, the third of nine children of Thomas & Inez Starling in Rocky Mount, NC. She is survived by her husband, CDR James K. Denson, USN, (Ret), daughter, Sandi Karen Baum (Tommy), three sons, Keith (Carol), Kenneth, Kevin (Elaine), five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings, James Starling (Edna), Lois Harris (Horace), Betty Clower and Glenda Pace (V.A.)
Dot was a loving Navy wife of sixty three years and greatly enjoyed her travels around the world and her many friends both here and abroad. She performed many hours of volunteer service with the Red Cross, Officer’s Wives Clubs and Kempsville Elementary School. Dot was a member of Community United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 19, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church at 1072 Old Kempsville Road in Virginia Beach. All other funeral arrangements will be private.
