Evelyn V. Gray

Evelyn Mae VanNostrand Gray, 84, born in Princess Anne County, went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charlie E. Gray, Jr. and predeceased by her brother, Ray W. VanNostrand.

Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children, Debbie Ashton (Skip), Barbara Hall, and Charlie Gray, III (Sharon); “Mamaw’s” 6 grandchildren, Lindsay Hall, Meghan Ashton, Chip Ashton, Ryan Hall, Kathryne King (Daniel) and Charlie Gray, IV; a sister, Jesse Anne Shipp (Ashie); and 2 brothers, Horace VanNostrand (Edie) and Ralph VanNostrand (Donna); and a host of other relatives and friends, all who will miss her dearly.

She was a long-time member of Charity United Methodist Church, she loved life and sports and never met a stranger.

A graveside homegoing service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Charity United Methodist Cemetery, 4800 Charity Neck Rd in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charity United Methodist Church.
