Joan Mary McConnell

Joan M. McConnell, 80, passed away on December 8, 2012. She was born on July 22, 1932 to the late William F. and Frances LeVene in Brooklyn, NY. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia and granddaughter Danielle.

It is with heavy and loving hearts that we say good-bye to our mother, knowing she is healed and at peace in the arms of her Heavenly Father. Joan loved square dancing, belly dancing; playing Bingo, team bowling, and she also loved her dogs and horses. She retired from the Virginia Beach School system after 15 years of employment.

Joan was a devoted wife and mother and is survived by her loving husband of 55 years William T. McConnell; her children, Kathleen Wolff and husband Ken, William McConnell and wife Meg, Margaret Pavey and husband Keith and John McConnell and wife Amy; step-sons, Ray McConnell and Dan McConnell and wife Marian; 10 grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Samuel, Nikita, Samantha, Chase, Molly, Zach, Ethan and Christopher; and 3 great grandchildren, Dalvin, Asean, Christian.

The family would like to offer sincere gratitude to the staff of Currituck House and Community Hospice for their care and compassion towards their mother.

In lieu of flowers a memorial donations may be made to CHKD and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
