On Saturday, October 30, 2021, John R. Cinnamond, loving husband and father of three, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 47. The world lost a great husband, father, son, brother, friend, and teacher.
John was born in Camden, NJ to Bob and Dona Cinnamond. He grew up in Maple Shade, NJ and graduated from Maple Shade High School After high school he attended North Carolina Wesleyan where he earned a BA in Justice and Public Policy. At NCW he was a member of the Battling Bishops Baseball team during 94-96 seasons. After college he relocated to Virginia Beach and was employed by Virginia Beach City Public Schools for over 24 years. He spent the majority of his time as a Social Studies teacher at Kempsville High. While at Kempsville he coached Golf, Baseball, and JV Basketball.
If you asked John what his greatest accomplishments were, he would not say his success in baseball or his teaching career. He would say his greatest accomplishments were being a loving father and a husband. He loved watching Jackson turn into an amazing and caring man. He loved being able to coach Jonah in baseball and golf. He also loved trying to embarrass Julianne while driving her wherever she needed to be.
John loved spending time with his family. One of his favorite vacation spots was Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. He loved sitting by the pool playing trivia with the kids. He was full of useless knowledge that came in handy during trivia. He was even able to play Harbour Town Golf Links with Jonah.
John is survived by Jacqueline, his wife of 22 years, his three children, Jackson, Jonah, and Julianne, and his sister Vicki. His parents, Bob and Dona Cinnamond passed away earlier this year.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Community United Methodist Church on Old Kempsville Road, VA Beach, VA 23464 at 12 noon.
