John O'Malley

Virginia Beach - John Joseph O’Malley, 79, passed away on Oct. 22, 2013. He was born on Nov. 14, 1933 in Boston, MA. John proudly served his country in the US Navy, retiring in 1971 with 20 years of service. He then continued his career as a custodial supervisor with the Norfolk Public Schools, retiring in 1996 with 24 years of service. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching the Redskins and Red Sox. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosemary O’Malley; daughter, Lisa Vanlandingham and husband Joe; step-son, Rob Vallejo and wife Kathryn; step-daughter, Christine Vallejo; siblings, Barbara Gunther, Patricia Grace and husband Richard, Paul O’Malley and wife Sudonna, Katherine Honey, and Honora Klimas; seven grandchildren, Sean, Hannah, and Olivia Vanlandingham, Rachel, Andrew, Jack, and Ryleigh Vallejo; brother-in-law, Morris Tuttle and his wife Linda; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Honora “Nora” Klimas and husband John; and father, John J. O’Malley. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Albert G.
