Lucy Vaughan Redick

Lucy Holmes Vaughan Taylor Redick passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 30 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Virginia Beach, VA. Lucy was born in Crewe, VA in Nottaway County on June 18, 1929 to Holmes Arthur Vaughan and Sarah Carr Vaughan. She graduated from Longwood College with a BS in elementary education. She taught five years in Suffolk, VA and 30 years in Virginia Beach, VA. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in VA Beach, VA and later at Sandbridge Community Chapel UMC. After retiring from her 35 year teaching career, she enjoyed recreational vehicle travel with her husband, Jack throughout the United States and beyond. She loved spending time with her grown children but particularly enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents: Holmes Arthur Vaughan and Sarah Carr Vaughan, her sisters, Elizabeth Vaughan Pritchett, and Frances Vaughan Garland, her first husband, Charles William Taylor II (Buck) and her granddaughter Kory Forrest Jones. She is survived by her husband, Jack Hamilton Redick, her children, Charles William Taylor III (Chuck), Nancy Holmes Taylor, Sarah Jean Taylor, Kip Hamilton Redick and wife Sarah and Kim Redick Forrest and husband Mark. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kymberly Forrest Carr and husband Paul, Caroline Redick, Caleb Redick and wife Denae, Matt Jones and 4 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers and staff that took care of Lucy. Cora Parker, Tamieca Holloman, Our Lady of Perpetual Help caregivers and staff as well as Westminster Canterbury Hospice nurses and staff.
