Mary Roberta “Bobbie” Nantz (nee Fisher), age 95, and a more than 60-year resident of Norfolk and VA Beach, died peacefully on 20 Jan 2026. Born 18 Apr 1930 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to John Miller Fisher Sr. and Cassandra Belinda Sadler, Bobbie was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters-in-law Francis J. (Sylvia) Fisher and John M. (Betty) Fisher, Jr. and her husband Frank J. Nantz.
Frank and Bobbie married 10 Sep 1955 and had a close and affectionate marriage; they were at each other's side every day until Frank’s death in 1993. Bobbie is survived by her children Al (Brenda) Nantz of Midlothian VA, Terri (Mike) Rice, Becky (Bert) King, and John (Pon) Nantz all of VA Beach; her grandchildren Erin (Patrick) Nicolas, Megan Nantz both of Midlothian VA, Parker (Zach) Eisenman of Richmond VA, Davis King of No. Virginia; and two great-grandchildren; all of whom she loved deeply and to whom she devoted her life.
Among the things she enjoyed the most was sharing some wine and laughter in the company of those she loved being with. Bobbie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and curling up in a chair and reading novels. She enjoyed crafting by making beautiful egg Christmas ornaments as well as scrapbooking, knitting, and needlepointing.
Bobbie was a long-time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Norfolk and was an active volunteer, supporting many of the activities of her children and grandchildren. She was active for many years as a Girl Scout leader at both the troop and council level. She was involved in Little Creek and Azalea Gardens PTA, volunteered for and supported the Azalea Athletic Assoc. Bobbie was also a proud alumna of the University of North Carolina - Greensboro. She was an avid genealogist and member of several genealogical societies.
Most of all Bobbie loved spending time with her family and friends. Her passion for genealogy and family history was an important way for her to stay connected with others for many years. Bobbie will be greatly missed along with her quick wit, great sense of humor, and love for laughter.
