It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Elizabeth Tourault announces her passing on March 25, 2025. She passed away peacefully in her home in Virginia Beach at the age of 83 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Betty Bauer.
Mary was born in Washington, DC and graduated from the Immaculate Conception Academy. As a teenager, she was honored to be chosen to dance before President and Mrs. Dwight D. Eisenhower in a ballet performance. At the age of 18, Mary met the love of her life, Michael Tourault, to whom she was married for more than 63 years. In 1962, they moved to Virginia Beach, where she raised her family. Later in life she enjoyed travel, gardening, and loved spending time with her family. Her gentle spirit and kindness made everyone around her feel loved and cared for.
She was a member of Church of the Holy Family where she gave of her time and also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband Michael Tourault, her two children Jeffrey Tourault and wife Susan, Kimberly McBride and her fiancé Michael Hackworth. She will also be affectionately remembered by her four grandchildren; Clayton Tourault and his wife Jocelyn, Christopher Tourault and his wife Chloe, Gage McBride and his wife Zoie, and Meghan McBride. She was blessed to have three great grandchildren; Presley and Trace Tourault, Leia McBride, and we can’t forget her precious fur baby Rosie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am, Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Church of the Holy Family, 1279 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park, 1110 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad or Church of the Holy Family Building Fund.
