Mr. Merlo was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Virginia Beach since 1987. He retired from the defense department, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Survivors include his loving wife Elena Merlo, four daughters Elena Apaliski of Virginia Beach, VA; Maria Merlo and Angela Merlo both of NJ; and Teresa Berkley of NV; four grandchildren, Jason and Corine Apaliski, Erica and Joanna Norcini; and a sister, Jean Maggi.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 17, 2012 12:00 noon at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
