Heaven sure gained a dear, sweet angel this evening! I love how much he loved life! He lived life to the fullest and did not know a stranger. I love how much he loved my children and I will miss him dearly. Random things he taught me: growl at little girls, even if they cry:) (and tell the story over and over again as she gets older); keep the plastic on your furniture for longer wear; travel while you can, every chance you get; drink lots of cups of coffee at Hardees to socialize with your friends longer, even if your granddaughter has finished reading the multiple books she brought along to entertain herself; stock up on can goods when they are on sale even if they take up the majority of storage in your garage and let your granddaughter fill up a box every trip back to college; collect mail around your sitting chair, you never know when you will need quick access to it and put a smile on someone's face, everyday! I have so many memories with my "Growly" Grandpa and I will cherish them for the rest of my life.

I am so sorry for missing Pete's funeral. My dad spoke of him often and EVERY time he spoke about the "Lions". Pete was always so nice to me and my family. I will never forget him.

In memory of a wonderful, wonderful man named Mr. Pete.  Mr. Pete, the neighbor across the street from my childhood home.  I'll always remember bushels of crabs and watermelon parties.  Pickled pigs feet dares and cutting through the yard to get to the Holloway's.  Running across the street to help you unload your groceries, then because we always refused payment, you would make us take home some canned goods because, "they were about to expire anyway".  I remember playing outside on hot summer nights, playing tag and hide and seek with your grandkids, lightning bugs flashing all around us.  Station wagon rides with all 9 kids crammed in for ice cream at Hardee's.  Helping you deliver flowers on holidays (I realized being a delivery girl was not my career goal this way, thank you very much!!). When I was older, my introduction to the wonderful world of Bloody Marys was on your back porch, listening to you and my dad telling old war stories that you deemed appropriate to tell in front of me.  I'm going to miss your very gruff exterior with your gentle soul inside.  Rest in peace you wonderful man, you will be missed.

Pete was a very special person who lived an exemplary life. As a member of the ROMEO'S (retired old men eating out-at Hardy's!) he was a true friend to both my mother and our family, as well as to many others in that group. He, on occasion, cooked us wonderful dinners at his house, featuring his home-grown tomatoes. I remember him  proudly taking us on a driving tour of the Naval Base. I can see him as the kindly guy in charge, whether with a group of friends at Hardy's or the Lion's club events, or orchestrating the seating at the weeknight square dances. One of the highlights of his later life was the honorary veteran's trip to Washington, DC and Leonard and I were so happy he got that recognition as he was a true patriot. Pete was always fun to be around,was kind and thoughtful as well as sensible and trustworthy and we were proud to know him. God Bless and Godspeed,Pete.

My uncle was a kind man. He always made sure we had a great time when we visited him in Virgina. We had many memories at the beach. He took us crabbing and made sure if we didn't catch any he cheated and went and brought them. As I child I remember the times he took us to the navy base and we were lucky enough to go aboard the ships. As we got older and had our own family he was just as excited to see them and show them off as they were to see him. I will miss him so much. I know his family will miss him. My mom and dad always looked forward to calling him when any of the Detroit teams were playing. They would have wonderful conversations about the team. I am sure my mom and dad will miss those time but can cherish the memories they had with him on the phone and also at the beach. We will all miss but can't wait to meet you in heaven and have a party!!

Uncle Richard was a unique individual, who never met a stranger, treated everyone as if he'd known them forever!  A great man whose spirit, love of life and mischievous attitude and smile made him special.  He taught us how to go crabbing, how to eat crabs and more importantly not to eat the goopy stuff that he did!  So many great memories, that's just a couple! It was a pleasure to have known Pete.  He was my Dad's favorite friend at Marion Manor.  I know he will be missed very much.  Our deepest condolences to your family.

My uncle Richard was one of the kindest, most loving people that I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I as well as the rest of my family will miss him greatly. He has truly left a hand print on my heart. Rest easy uncle!

My Uncle Richard was one of a kind.  He was brilliant, dignified, and one of the kindest  men on the face of the planet.  He will be physically missed, but his life and memories will live on forever.

Pete was a friend of my mother's (Margaret DeLoach) at Marian Manor Assisted Living.  Momma cried when she told me about Pete's passing. She said that Pete was always kind, cheerful and fun to talk to. She, along with so many other residents, are going to sorely miss their chats with Pete.

Pete was an amazing man who anybody could learn something from.  My family and I have enjoyed his company for 25 years.  This time is never easy, my deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

 My family and I lived across the street from this wonderful man. We called him Mr. Pete. He was always smiling and joking around with the children  in the neighborhood. They thought he was a silly man, but they loved him and will miss him terribly.
