Phyllis Anne (Nelson) Kohler, 68, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2011. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on December 15, 1942 Virginia, the daughter of the late Edward and Mavis Nelson. In 1998, Phyllis became co-owner and president of Chesapeake Bay Helicopters, a business that she founded with her sons on a wing and a prayer. Outside of her business she enjoyed her bible study class, her newly landscaped rose garden and charity work, especially with the Currituck Animal Lovers Assistance League. Phyllis was a loving wife mother and grandmother and friend.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 28 years, Robert (Bob) Kohler; sons, Wilson Gilliam and wife Natali and Les Gilliam and wife Julija; her five adoring grandchildren and sister, Bernice Nelson and nephew Jeff Nelson; aunt Juanita Rasnake and numerous loving friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10 AM in Rosewood Memorial Park, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. For those who wish to do so, donations may be made to the Currituck Animal Lovers Assistance League, P. O. Box 61, Maple, NC 27956 in Phyllis’ name.
