Col. Richard John Rybak, U.S.A.F. Ret., passed on March 16, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on August 2, 1944, in Syracuse, New York and was a resident of Lake Christopher area of Virginia Beach.
Col. Rybak received a Purple Heart in Viet Nam after his plane was shot down. He received a Master's Degree and served as an Airline Pilot for United Airlines until he retired.
Survivors include his loving wife Sheila Ann Rybak and extended family and longtime friends.
A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date with full military honors.
