

Daisy was born in Mt. View, Arkansas on August 22, 1923 to Sam Compton and Etta Jane Nelms Compton, their fifth child. She was raised and educated in Okemah, Oklahoma. On June 1, 1941, Daisy married Edward Wallis in Jackson Hill, Oklahoma. Edward was serving in the United States Armed Forces and following his discharge, they moved to Visalia, California in 1947 to make their home and raise their family. Daisy worked as Secretary/Treasurer for the First Southern Baptist Church in Visalia for over twenty years. She loved to teach Sunday school and served as Camp Counselor for the Girls Auxiliary. She last attended First Baptist Church of Visalia. Daisy was a great cook and was a loving mother and grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Neal Wallis and wife Hiley of Visalia; her daughter, Shirel Godsey of Visalia; two sisters, Jessie Irelan of Crescent City, CA and Norma Brandt of San Jose, CA; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Daisy was preceded in death by her son, Donald Eugene Wallis on February 3, 1988; her son-in-law, James Godsey in 2011; five sisters and two brothers and a great granddaughter, Heather Nugent.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 12 Noon at the Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA.
