Elwin "Jim" James Didway

Jim was born on March 31, 1954 in West Covina, California to his mother and father Gladys and Leroy Didway. He is 1 of 5 siblings; two preceded him in death.

Jim grew up going to church and he dedicated his life to Jesus when he was young. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a leader in an Awanas group at Faith Baptist in the 80’s for a little while and continued his walk with the Lord until they day the Lord took him home. Jim loved to read his bible and watch Billy Graham along with John Hagee on television. Wherever he was, there was always a bible nearby. You could find him reading to himself in a quiet room or opening it up to share the Word with others.

In 1972, Jim met the love of his life, Terri Reid, who he married on October 6, 1974. They had three children; one preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and a loyal friend who is greatly missed.

Jim will be dearly remembered by his beloved wife, Terri Didway, daughters Mindy and Amber, his grandchildren Ethan, Alexandra, Rhiannon, Kaden, AaraLyn, Karina, Cynthia, Junior, Joseph, Jonathan, Angelica, Trent, and Mathew and his great-grandson Phoenix. He is also survived by his sisters Lorrie and Carmen, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His faith, kindness, and the love he showed us all will continue to guide those he loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Gateway Church, located at 1100 South Sowell Street, Visalia, California, 93277. The service is scheduled for February 21, 2026, starting at 10:30 am.
