
George Stanley Lewis was born in Hanford, California on November 23rd,1939 to the late Mary and George Lewis. He passed away on May 28th, 2026, at the age of 86, in Roseville, California at Heart to Heart Residential Assisted Living where he had been convalescing after a fall at his home in January.
George attended Hanford High, where he was described as a multi-sport athlete, excelling in both football and baseball, and notably serving as the varsity football team's starting quarterback. He graduated from Hanford High and attended Porterville College, where he played baseball and football at the collegiate level. He and his wife, Doris, moved to Visalia in 1974, where he worked at Visalia Medical Clinic for over 40 years. George became well-known as the long-time local youth sports coach, coaching youth and Pop Warner football. After retiring, George and his wife, Doris, moved to their vacation home in Shaver Lake, California, which George had built himself, where he enjoyed working in the local sawmill, wood working in his shop, and clearing snow for his local mountain community.
George is survived by his two sons and their families; Chris Lewis, and his wife Melanie, David Lewis, and his wife Tina, as well as six grandchildren; Trevor Lewis, Heather Thomassen, John Harrison, Toni Lindsey, Garrett Harrison, and Kayla Lewis, and 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Pereira and his brother-in-law, Stanley, along with their three children, George was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Doris (Stewart) Lewis, and his grandson, Austin David Lewis.
A Celebration of Life is planned for George at Miller Memorial Chapel on June 26, 2026, at 11:00 am at 1120 W. Goshen Avenue, in Visalia.
