Helen grew up in Minnesota where she attended school. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and moved to California in the early 1950’s. She was the founder of Ascension School in Thousand Oaks. She taught at the school for over 25 years. Survivors include her sons, Steve (Sheli) Celentano, Tulare and Louis Celentano, Visalia; daughter, Coco (John) Garner, Visalia; brother, Philip Highum, Phoenix, AZ; sister, Corlee Powell, Denver, Colorado; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church, 3850 W. Tulare Ave., Visalia on Friday, November 19th, 11:00 a.m.
