Jess Torres, age 88, of Visalia, California passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Jess was born in California. Jess Torres Born January 13, 1937, in Fresno CA, and went to the Lord on February 11, 2025 in Visalia CA. Jess was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Viviana Torres and 11 brothers and sisters. Jess is survived by his loving wife Helena G. Torres and 5 proud children; Anthony M. Navarrette of Phoenix AZ, Denise P. Navarrette of DuPont WA, Corinna M. Slade of Visalia CA, Juan Navarrette of Portland OR, and Jess E. Torres Jr. of Visalia CA. His 10 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren and is survived by his Sister Dolores Gomez of Redondo Beach CA, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jess was a longtime member and Usher of Holy Family Catholic Church. Jess was the youngest of 11 siblings and lived a fun adventurous young adult life. Jess met the love of his life, Helena, at the Visalia Olive Plant. Jess worked at the Visalia Olive Plant for 25 plus years where he was a Pitter Mechanic and loved his job. He would often say “If you love your job, you never work a day in your life“. When Jess was not working he would spend most of his time at his favorite place in the world, his home and garden with his wife raising their 5 children. You could often catch him doing upgrades on his house or working on his prized garden and fruit trees, spending endless hours perfecting everything he did. In his later years Jess devoted his time to visiting his grandkids and spending time with them, showing the grandkids how to tend the garden. Jess also loved cooking and barbecuing, and you could catch him making his famous menudo, Tri-tip or Chinese food on the weekends sharing his food with the family. Jess will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
A visitation for Jess will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 West Goshen Avenue, Visalia, California. A recitation of rosary will occur Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 7:00 PM, 1120 West Goshen Avenue, Visalia, California. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1908 North Court Street, Visalia, California. A final place of rest will occur Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Visalia Public Cemetery District, 1300 West Goshen Avenue, Visalia, California.
