Joseph Chastain

Harold was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 16, 1927 to J. D. and Louise Chastain. He passed away in Visalia, California on June 2, 2010 at the age of 83. After high school, Harold served in the US Navy during WWII. He married his first wife in Louisiana. They moved to Michigan and had 3 children. He moved to California and married Alycia “Lee” and had 5 more children. Together they had 10 children. He worked for General Tire for many years as a sales manager before retiring in 1989.Harold and Lee were avid bowlers and lifetime members of the Fraternal Order Eagles Lodge Aerie #232 in Oxnard, CA. They loved camping and raising their family. He was preceded in death by his first wife Peggy Mae, his second wife Alycia “Lee” and his daughters Linda K. Mellema, and Donna Jean Chastain.

He is survived by his children: Harold Jr. & Barb Chastain, Russ & Pat Price, Ron & Bonnie Price, son-in-law Ivan & Sherri Mellema, all of Grand Rapids , MI, Bob & Laura Chastain of Lompoc, CA, Ben & Ginger Gruler of Glendale, AZ, Jerry & Margaret Chastain of Yuba City, CA, Dan & Gloria Chastain, Philip and Laura Anaya, and Glenn & Debra Hill all of Visalia, CA,; 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, sister Margie & Jerry Vogel of San Antonio, Texas.

Visitation will be held at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA on Thursday, June 10th from 2-7 pm, and a chapel service on Friday, June 11, 11:30 a.m. Graveside to follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Rd., Ventura, CA
