Joseph Christian Schultz (J.C.), 23, passed away peacefully after battling a long illness at his home in Visalia. Born October 12, 1993, in Turlock, CA, he was the son of Daniel and Maria Schultz. He graduated from Redwood High School in 2012 and was attending College of the Sequoias pursuing his associates degree.
Joseph played golf at Redwood and made the All-Area team in 2012 despite his illness and having to have dialysis treatments his senior year at Redwood. Joseph was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, especially Derek Jeter, and his favorite football team was the University of Notre Dame. When he was able he loved to travel to the coast and he saw many games of his two favorite sports teams. His appreciation of life touched everyone he came in contact with and his strong will to live was a true testament of his courage he exemplified each day on earth. He was a truly inspirational young man who turned to sports to help him not dwell on his bill of poor health but to show to himself and the world that anything is possible if your mind and heart are willing.
He is preceded by death by his grandfather, Guadalupe Moreno and his great-grandparents Wilma and Richard LaCroix. He is survived by his brother, Jay Schultz of Visalia; his mother and father Maria and Daniel Schultz; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Also missing him are his two girls—his dogs Yogi and Casey.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life on Thursday, February 23rd at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 608 N. Church St, Visalia, 93291.
In lieu of flowers, tributes and condolences made be made to a donor’s favorite charity in Joseph’s name or the family.
