Judith G. Owens

Judith was born Oct. 3, 1945 in Porterville, CA to Lloyd and Joni Elmore, the family moved to Visalia in 1953. She graduated from Redwood High School in 1963, and married Rick Mendes. Judy later met the love of her life, Sam Owens they have been married for 35 years.

Judy was employed by Josten’s, and as a Manager at the Holiday Inn Restaurant, where she was known for her pride in her job and for her friendly, enthusiastic personality. Judy and Sam had their own business, S&J Marketing. She loved traveling in their RV all over the US selling products at state and county fairs, at home and garden shows, as her grandchildren got older she decided to stay home and spend more time with them.

Judy loved bowling, knitting, playing games, picnics, and traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Once you were her friend, you were a friend for life. She was a very giving, caring, loving woman, who gave lots of hugs and kisses to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dogs.

Judy is survived by her husband, Sam Owens; sons, Dan and Annette Mendes, John and Ronda Mendes of Visalia, CA., Steve and Sally Dallman of Visalia, CA., Sam Dallman of Visalia, CA, Daughter, Debi and Mark Todd of Exeter, CA., brothers, Lloyd Elmore of Visalia, CA., Rich and Joyce Elmore of Colorado; sisters, Carol and Harry Van Ness, Linda and Mike of Stockton, CA., Rhonda and Wade Hargis of Visalia, CA., along with Adella Sharp of Lanett, AL., Carroll and Della Darr of Carlsbad, CA., Treona Ward of Bakersfield, CA., Tom and Ria Owens of Lake Milton, OH., Rick and Bobbie Owens of Visalia, CA., Randy and Marianne Ponder of Stratford, CA. She also has 9 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Joni Elmore, and her mother and father-in-law, Gordon and Glenda Ponder.
