Kathleen Michelle Condie was a woman who lived fully, loved deeply, and reflected God’s joy in every part of her life. From her first days in Fresno, California, on July 16, 1959, to her final, peaceful breath on November 2, 2025, she radiated God’s love and faithfulness—entering the arms of her beloved Jesus, surrounded by her family in Visalia.
Born to Don and Norma Dick, Kathleen was the youngest of three sisters. She grew up in Fresno and graduated from Immanuel High School.
Kathleen wasn’t known to be a rule-breaker—she was gentle, a true peacemaker, and someone everyone loved. But if you knew her, you know she also had a streak of bold determination when she set her mind to something. At Immanuel High School, dancing was strictly forbidden as part of the Mennonite tradition, yet for some reason, Kathleen chose to perform a song and dance for her talent portion of the evening. She performed Snoopy’s song-and-dance routine, Supper Time, stole the show in the talent portion, and went on to be crowned Immanuel’s 1977 Homecoming Queen in that quiet graceful way only she could pull off.
Jesus captured her heart at a young age and she lived life knowing she was His Beloved. Maybe that’s why she loved pink and glitter so much—because more than a Homecoming Queen, she knew her true identity was Daughter of the King.
In a recent interview with her youngest granddaughter, Goldie, Kathleen recalled that, even as the youngest daughter, it was her responsibility to clean her dad’s entire barber shop every Monday—a chore she says she HATED. Being the youngest did have its perks, though, like carrying her mom’s credit card and stopping at the mall whenever she pleased. Kathleen loved to shop her whole life, right up to her final days, laughing and shopping with her lifelong friend, Donna Belt, in Avila Beach the very week she went to be with Jesus.
At the young age of 14, Kathleen met Mark Condie at Fresno First Baptist Church. In 1978, five years later, they married, raised two daughters, Charis and Rachel, and together, built a life rich in love, memories, and so much JOY. The Condies became known for their weeks-long family vacations, and Kathleen’s devotion to family was evident in the time, energy, and sacrifice she poured into them. She thought of every detail, creating traditions and moments that were centered on family—traditions that will live on for generations.
While tending to their first ministry— family—they also loved, shepherded, and guided hundreds of people toward Jesus. In 1980, together with several other couples, they planted Savior’s Community Church in Visalia and poured themselves into that flock for 33 years, nurturing it with care, vision, and unwavering faith until it merged with Radiant Visalia Church in 2013. Kathleen’s heart for people and passion for Jesus leaves a lasting legacy at Radiant that continues to ripple through countless lives today.
At 45 years old, Kathleen completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2004 and went on to passionately teach and inspire hundreds of children, both in elementary education and as a music teacher with the Visalia Unified School District.
She was a brilliant musician, pianist, and songwriter, sharing her gift by leading worship alongside her daughters throughout their junior high and high school years.
Kathleen and Mark moved to Tulare Radiant Church in 2020, shortly after her first journey with cancer. What might have slowed them down only seemed to speed them up. Together, they continued to pour themselves into people’s lives—mentoring and encouraging others, supporting families in need, opening their home, and welcoming anyone who walked through the doors of their church. In these last five years, Tulare Radiant became a deeply treasured home for her—a true family where she found joy, delight, and a renewed sense of calling in loving God’s people.
Together, they spent the last five years savoring every moment - taking 20 to 25 camping trips in their cozy trailer, filled with Kathleen’s special touches, from Three Rivers to Santa Monica, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and, most recently, Avila Beach; a Caribbean cruise; a Michigan State football game; three unforgettable trips to Hawaii; and three trips to Disneyland, two of them just this year.
Kathleen’s greatest love was the beach, and she passed that love on to all of her children and grandchildren. Hawaii held a very special place in her heart—her absolute favorite place on earth—and she shared that love extravagantly, taking her family for weeks at a time whenever she could. She wasn’t your typical grandma sitting back at the hotel. Kathleen was on the beach from sunup to sundown, diving in the waves, snorkeling, and keeping up with all her grandkids just fine. Life never slowed her down, not even last summer when the family spent several weeks together on the island. She loved collecting seashells, marveling at God’s creation, and fully embracing the joy of each moment.
Many years ago, when her oldest grandchild, Ethan, was just six months old, she discovered an off-the-beaten-path beach that only locals knew about. After twenty minutes off-roading in a 12-passenger van on unpaved roads during a heat wave, with no AC, many were sweating and complaining, and Kathleen kept exclaiming, “Isn’t this so great? I’ve heard this is an awesome beach!” Turns out, it’s become one of the family’s favorite beaches and the bumpy drive back was worth it.
Fifteen years later, she returned the family to that same beach with a new dream in mind: a sunset dinner together on this remote heaven-on-earth. Only Kathleen would go to such lengths—buying a BBQ, packing ice chests full of food, with the guys hauling it all—just so everyone could share a meal, laugh at her wild ideas, and soak in the beauty of God’s creation.
While gentle and peaceful, Kathleen had an adventurous spirit that always surprised people. Like the time she talked Mark into kayaking to a remote spot off the point of Avila—a night that is now infamous in the Condie family. They ended up sleeping on the beach in wet bathing suits with wild boar roaming nearby. According to Mark, it was one of the worst nights of his life, but for Kathleen, it was an adventure she loved and remembered fondly.
Kathleen was the perfect blend of beauty, compassion, grace, and FUN. She taught us how to embrace life with joy, courage, and a sense of adventure, and her love for Jesus and her family will impact generations to come.
Kathleen’s life was a direct reflection of her deep, steady, and courageous faith in Jesus. Kathleen refused to let pain or suffering define her story. Instead, she propelled herself wholeheartedly into the ministry God called her to—loving, mothering, prophesying, opening her home, pouring into young people, and giving her life away.
High school sweethearts, Kathleen was married to the love of her life for 47 precious years. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved extravagantly and overflowed with beauty and creativity, making every celebration sparkle and every ordinary moment truly feel so special. If she wasn’t at the beach, there was no place she’d rather be than on the sidelines, cheering her grandkids on with boundless pride and joy. Motherhood was her legacy.
Though she endured hardships few could imagine, she never once allowed bitterness or self-pity to take root in her heart. Every day, she chose hope, joy, and praise, celebrating the blessings God placed in her life. She lived fully in the gift of each moment, praising Him through every struggle, and showing all of us what it looks like to walk faithfully, gracefully, and with a spirit that refuses to be defined by suffering.
“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future.
The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole. I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.” 1 Peter 1:3-7
Her legacy lives on in her daughters, grandchildren and hundreds of spiritual sons and daughters she has loved and mothered over the past 45 years.
Kathleen leaves her husband Mark; her children, Charis & Joshua Alipaz and Rachel & James Trigueiro; her grandkids, Ethan & Reese Alipaz, Owen Thompson & Avery Aicklen, Grace and Lana Alipaz, and Lincoln, Wren, Quincy, & Goldie Trigueiro, along with her spiritual children, John Crook and Maddie Chipley; her 99-year-old father, Don, and her sisters, Carol and Becki. As Jesus welcomed her into His arms, she was celebrated and joined with her mom, Norma, Mark’s mom, Gracie, and precious baby Alipaz.
