

Born on August 11, 1947 in Glendale California, Mike was the youngest child of Joe and Thelma Barrios. After graduating high school in San Fernando, Mike served from 1965-69 in the United States Navy as a flight engineer where he made many memories and met lifelong friends, Jerry McBride and Eddie Metcalf.
After being honorably discharged from the service, Mike excelled in the grocery business, working in route sales and supervision for both Langendorf and Oroweat Then, in the 1980's, Mike began his Mac Tool Distributorship, serving nearly every shop in Tulare and Kings County where he worked until his retirement, being fondly remembered as "The Mac Man" by countless customers and acquaintances.
Beyond his work life, Mike was also a certified hot air balloon instructor, regularly flying his own rainbow balloon in the Albuquerque Balloon Festival, as well as benevolently offering rides to just about anyone who showed interest. Additionally, he was a passionate Formula 1 racing fan, even naming his beloved dog "Senna" after his favorite driver, as well as extending numerous invites to friends and neighbors to come "watch the race" at his house.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his aunts and uncles, and his nephew, Jason Weaver. He is survived by his son, Joe Barrios of Visalia; one granddaughter, Sadie Barrios-Rice; his brother, Rick Barrios and wife Audrey of Santa Clarita; his cousin, Caroline Bowie and husband Gary of Camarillo; his cousin, Mary Lou Hendrickson and husband Le Roy of Thousand Oaks; his nephew, Mark Barrios of Santa Clarke.; and his niece, Jennifer Bowie of Thousand Oaks.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 13th at the Three Rivers Memorial Building, 43490 Sierra Drive, Three Rivers, CA at 12:00 noon. Memorial donations of Mike may be made at www.youcaring.com/mikebarrios.
