Nathan Hugo Chance, Jr., of Visalia passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025. He was 81 years old. Nathan was born May 9, 1943 in Pocola, Oklahoma, to Nathan Hugo Chance, Sr., and Edith Marie Chance. Nathan graduated from Orosi High School High School in 1961 and attended C.O.S. Thereafter, Nathan served in the US Army and the US Army National Guard.
Early on, Nathan was employed by McQuay’s Manufacturing, in Visalia, CA, where he met the love of his life, Donna Jean Jones. He then moved on to build a career with Randell Equipment Manufacturing, Inc, in Woodlake, CA, Delano, CA, and Visalia, CA.
In 1967, he and Donna married and made a home in Visalia, CA. He and Donna enjoyed traveling both in Europe and the U.S., golfing, enjoying good food, and spending time with family, friends. Nathan and Donna had a long and happy marriage of 42 years until her passing in 2009.
After Donna’s passing, Nathan was blessed once again with love when he met his fiancé, Marlene McCormick, with whom he shared a deeply cherished bond. Together, for the past 14 years, from 2010 to the time of his passing, they built a foundation of love, hope, and shared dreams.
He will be best remembered for his kind heartedness, sense of humor, quick wit, and thoughtfulness of others. All that knew him will dearly miss him.
Nathan is survived by his sister, Betty Ingram (Finis); brother, David A. Chance (Bonnie); sister, Christina Bowlin; and numerous other nieces and nephews and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna J. Chance; his parents, Nathan and Edith Chance; and his brothers, James P. Chance (Cheryl), and Stephen E. Chance (Laruth).
We will miss you, but we know we will see you again one day.
Visitation will be held on January 15, 2025, at 9:30 am with a service to follow at 10:30am, at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA, 93291.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm, at Visalia District Cemetery, in Visalia, CA.
