

Patrick Sweeney was born August 21, 1935 to parents Aaron and Lois Sweeney. He was the firstborn son of the family, helping to raise his two younger brothers Aaron Dale and Don, and one sister Anna. He was raised in and around Woodlake, California. He was active in sports, playing on his school football team throughout his school years. He graduated from Woodlake High School in 1958.
Patrick then joined the army in 1958, serving in two war zones. He traveled to many countries in his military career. He met his wife Theresia Sweeney while stationed in Germany in 1965. They had and raised two sons, Mark and Heiko and one daughter, Sharon. They were married 57 years when Theresia passed away. Patrick retired from the army in 1979 after 23 years. His rank was Supply Sergeant E8. He retired with many honors and had a chest full of medals.
Patrick lived his life in public service. First serving his country in the military for 23 years. He later worked for the Tulare County Childcare system ordering and delivering supplies to many childcare locations and reservations throughout Tulare County. He retired, receiving the golden handshake from the childcare system after 18 years of service in 1998.
Patrick enjoyed his retirement by raising livestock and birds and selling them at the Visalia Sale yard for many more years. He also enjoyed shopping very much and seeing his children and grandchildren grow up. He wasn’t a touchy feelings person but had much pride in his children and grandchildren.
He will be missed by many friends and family. He lived to the age of 90, still enjoying his life with a sense of humor.
He is survived by his 3 children and multiple grandchildren, and even a few great grandchildren.
