

Rebecca Mosqueda Arrona, age 81 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Visalia CA on Nov. 14th, 2015. Becky was born in Seiling, OK on Oct. 24, 1934 to Raphael and Isabelle Mosqueda. She was the youngest of 11 children. At the age of 5, her family settled in Visalia CA. She attended schools in Visalia until the age of twelve, when she was diagnosed with tuberculosis. She spent the next eight years in Springville Hospital. There, she completed her elementary and high school education. She battled and survived tuberculosis, and after her release from Springville, she married Jesse Gomez. Through this marriage, Becky happily became a mother to three step daughters, Eleanor, Susie and Dorothy. She was later blessed with two daughters of her own, Patty and Sandra.
She was widowed young and became played the role of both father and mother to her daughters. She was active at her daughters' elementary school, and was PTA President at Crowley Elementary School. Becky also became active in the community with her membership in The League Of Mexican American Women. She loved taking her daughters along with her sister Rose on day trips to the Sequoias.
Becky was a talented seamstress. She worked for many years in the bridal business, and created beautiful wedding gowns and many other creations for over 20 years. She later went to work for JC Penney in the fine jewelry department. She acquired quite the eye for diamonds. She retired from JC Penney after 16 years.
Becky was a proud member of Holy Family Catholic Church since she was a child. She was a member and past President of the Guadalupe Society, where she helped in different events for Holy Family Church for many years. She also was employed by The Diocese as the Director of Religious Education for quite some time. This was a position Becky cherished, it was a calling for her. She received so much joy and fulfillment out of serving in this manner. She loved teaching the children all about the Catholic faith.
Becky found love again when she married Santos Arrona. They were both very involved at Holy Family and their community, and loved to take trips together. The coast, Mexico City and Washington DC were a few of many vacation destinations.
Becky is survived by her daughters Patricia Salinas and Sandra Elizabeth Ramirez, her three step daughters Eleanor Gomez, Susie Domingos and Dorothy Mosqueda. She was a wonderful and cherished grandmother to her grandchildren, Andre R Navarrette II, Ashley Salinas, Alex Salinas, Anthony Salinas and Paige Vandegrift. She was also a loved presence in the lives of her great-grandchildren, James, Christian, Landen, and Olivia. She has many step-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and is survived by her brother, Louis Mosqueda.
Visitation will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited at Miller Memorial Chapel on November 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1908 N. Court St., Visalia, at 10:00 follow by burial at Visalia District Cemetery.
