Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Shirley Ann Pugh, born April 15, 1928, in Monterey Park, California passed peacefully into the hands of our heavenly Father on August 11, 2025. Shirley was the heart of our family providing guidance and understanding to all who sought her counsel. Shirley grew up in the Pasadena area, attending Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra, Pasadena City College and finally attaining her nursing degree at the University of Southern California. She was licensed as a Registered Nurse in November of 1950. Shirley was married to Wayne Tyrus Pugh at the Congregational Christian Church in Pasadena on March 5, 1954, and remained married for 46 years until Wayne’s passing on July 17, 2000. Shirley lived in various locations following her husband’s various Air Force assignments before settling in Tulare in 1968 after he retired from the military. Along the way, she and Wayne were very proud to give birth to their two sons, Mark and Brett. Who brought an abundance of joy and happiness into their lives. Over the years she remained active in her church and in the American Association of University Women. As a grandmother, Shirley was devoted and cherished by her many family members. She never missed events with her grandchildren including sporting events, and school choir performances. She looked forward to the many grandparents' days over the years at Willow Glen elementary with her husband and 3 younger grandchildren. She loved to host thanksgiving at her home every year for our entire family, which carried many laughs, lots of love and unforgettable memories. Her loving heart and gentle soul made everlasting impressions on every heart she touched.
In her later years, Shirley enjoyed traveling, reading, listening to music and the many cats she adopted. She also loved attending the Gadabouts trips with her older companions for many years as well as her most recent trip to Spain and France with her son Brett.
