Theresa “Terri” Castillo of Visalia passed away at the age of 64 on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Theresa was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Cornelio Leos and Felipa Urquidez on July 21, 1956. She moved to California at a young age and settled with her family in Tulare County where she resided in the small town of Farmersville. She attended and graduated from Exeter High School in 1974. She was a resident of Visalia over the last 46 years where she dedicated 29 years of service to the California Water Service Company. It was there that she made many lifelong family-like friendships throughout her career.
She is survived by her mother, Felipa Urquidez, her husband of 42 years, Larry Castillo; son, Chris Castillo (wife Lorena); and her three grandchildren, Christopher “Chunk”, Kaliana, and Samuel Castillo. She is preceded in death by her father, Cornelio, and her sister, Linda Leos.
As a woman of God, she read her Bible faithfully, attended church regularly and dedicated time to various church functions. Over the years, she taught Sunday School, worked the church’s annual firework stand, organized functions, and she was dedicated member of Visalia’s New Life Church. Theresa strived to spread the word of God to others and would frequently provide transportation to church to those in need.
She loved spending time with her family, being outdoors, and planting her seasonal flowers with the company of her two dogs, Bo and Bullet. She especially loved the Holidays and was ready to open her doors to celebrate with whoever was willing to join. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Each season she meticulously decorated her Christmas tree, wrapped presents with precision, and made traditional meals year after year. The season of giving was always on her heart.
Theresa was an elegant and classy woman with impeccable taste and was known to be “fancy.” She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done at the salon on a regular basis. She loved shopping and was always looking to add to her collection of angels or roosters. She loved jewelry, but no matter what she had, she continued to be humble throughout life. Her love and affection were magnetic. Her motherly like presence was acknowledged almost immediately and others quickly became accustomed to nicknames such as “Grandma Terri.”
Funeral services have been arranged at Millers Memorial Chapel in Visalia, CA. Family will receive friends and family from 04:00 to 06:00 pm on December 21, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on December 22, 2020 at the Visalia Cemetery located at 1300 W. Goshen Ave, Visalia, CA 93291.
