Yaeko Mayeda passed away peacefully on August 30, 2018 at her home in Stockton, CA at the age of 95. Born in Hanford, she was a long-time resident of Visalia before moving to Stockton for the last several years of her life. After being sent to the Jerome Concentration Camp during WWII, Yaeko eventually returned to California and worked as a bookkeeper & auditor for M Green and Company, Accounting in Visalia until her retirement.
Yae was a faithful member of the Visalia Buddhist Church and community. She was a devoted sister to 11 siblings and will be remembered by family, friends, co-workers and the O’Connor Woods staff for her bright personality and fun spirit. In her lifetime she took care of many people. If a life lived well is measured by the number of tears shed when you leave this earth, then Yae’s life was not just well-lived but it was remarkable. She will be missed dearly.
Yae is survived by two sisters, Kimi Mayeda and Tsune Nakagawa along with brother, John Mayeda and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15th, from 3pm - 7pm at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia. Her Funeral Service will be held at the Visalia Buddhist Temple on Sunday, September 16th at 1pm.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204, or O’Connor Woods Residence Assistance Fund 3400 Wagner Heights Road, Stockton, CA 95209 or the Visalia Buddhist Church PO Box 428 Visalia, CA 93279.
