Betty Morris Yandle, widow of Walter H. Yandle, Sr., has gone to be with her Lord on March 8, 2026 and is walking the streets of gold with the love of her life, Walter. She was born in Winnsboro, SC to Nannie Mae and George Morris on September 9, 1933 and was a loving wife to Walter for 59 years before his death.
Betty and Walter were role models for their family, with God and family as a cornerstone of their lives together. They were always serving in the church, and you could find Walter and Betty singing together in a quartet or the choir, serving on church boards and committees and Betty would be active in the Food Pantry mission in her later years. Betty was a member of Columbia First Church of the Nazarene.
Betty was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and was known for feeding her family every Sunday after church and at every holiday celebration. Her chicken salad, dressing and chocolate layer cakes were the best, but it was the love and gathering of family that made the meals so special.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Walter “Doug” Yandle Jr. (Pam), Mike Yandle (Janice), and Don Yandle (Patti); along with 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Walter Yandle; her sister, Eloise Elkins; her brother, Caroll Morris; along with her grandson, Jason Yandle.
A funeral service led by Pastor Bill Harmon of West Columbia First Church of the Nazarene will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Caughman Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
The family would like to thank the staff of Spring Oaks of Lexington for their care and compassion in her final days. And Dr. William Korman for his care and compassion over the years.
