John William “Bill” Anderson, Sr., a beloved member of the Cayce, South Carolina community, passed away at the age of 86 on November 29, 2024. Born on August 16, 1938, in Walton County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Woodie Bell Ensley and Roy Thomas Anderson.
Bill was known for his warm presence and his dedication to his family, community and country. Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the Air National Guard. In 1967, as co-owner of Tony’s Pizza on Knox Abbott Drive, he created a cherished local dining spot that served Cayce residents for over 44 years. Outside of his work, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake house in Chapin and relaxing on the peaceful waters of Lake Murray. A devoted fan and long-time season ticket holder, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Carolina Gamecocks during football season.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Nellie Jean Hyman Anderson; his sons, Johnny Anderson and Anthony Anderson; his brother, Boyd Anderson and sister Canara Doub; as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at Southland Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Hope Mausoleum in West Columbia, South Carolina. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM to celebrate his life and legacy.
