LEXINGTON - Funeral services for Frances L. Hoover, 90, of Lexington, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 2817 Millwood Ave. Columbia, SC 29205.
Mrs. Hoover was born June 25, 1926 in Kennedy, AL. to the late Benjamin Manley Junkin and Dovie Henderson Junkin and passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016. She was a founding member of both Oakwood Baptist Church and the South Carolina Starcraft Camper Club. She was a foster mother for the Children’s Welfare Bureau for many years, providing loving care to countless babies until permanent homes were found. She later retired as a department manager from K-Mart Corporation. She loved reading, gardening, doll collecting and caring for the nursery children at church.
Surviving are her sons, Ben Hoover (JoAnn) of Lexington and Eric Hoover (Vicki) of Travelers Rest; five grandchildren; Ashley Wiles, Benji Hoover, Christy McClure, Joni Puckett and Lisa Wood; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sue Griggs and Pearl Dyches. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, L.V. Hoover.
