Born in San Antonio, Texas on December 19, 1948, Jim was the son of the late James A. Peterson, Sr. and Regina “Jean” Peterson. Jim is survived by his wife, Deborah J. Peterson; sister, Elizabeth Saurborn; his son, Andrew "Drew" Peterson; stepsons, Chris Jolley and Jamie Jolley; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Jim was a man who loved his family and America more than anything in the world. He was an educator, a mentor, and strived to learn something new every day. Jim was a man of principle and you always knew where he stood on any topic as he would never shy away from a debate. During his free time, Jim enjoyed spending his days with his family, watching Clemson football, collecting firearms, and supporting our country’s military. Jim was truly one of a kind and will be immensely missed.
Visitation for Jim will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel.
