WEST COLUMBIA – Funeral services for Joe Cordell, 84, will be held at 4:00 p.m.on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with the Rev. Bill Harmon officiating. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene-Building Fund, 350 Wattling Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
Mr. Cordell was born June 25, 1926 in Forney Creek, North Carolina and passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011. He was a son of the late Donald and Luray Jones Cordell. Mr. Cordell was a cabinet maker and a devoted family man. He was affectionately known to all as “Pop”.
“Pop” is survived by his wife of 61 years, Artie Nichols Cordell; children, Joyce (Ernest) Wise, Kay Hayden, Mickey (Steve) Owens, Patty Dayne Glenn; grandsons, Ardie, Casey, Jason, Mikael, Bradley, Joseph, Dustin and Parker, who will serve as pallbearers; granddaughters, Robin, Jodi, Stephanie, Jennifer, Kimberly and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Melissa, Devin, Deserae, Josi, Zachery, Braden, Christopher and Mikaylin. He was predeceased by his daughter, Margie “Bunny” Goodlett and granddaughter, Bethany; three brothers and one sister.
