CAYCE – A memorial service for Melvin Foster, 85, of Cayce, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at State Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the State Street Baptist Church, 1420 State Street, Cayce, SC 29033.
Mr. Foster was born April, 19, 1930 in Saluda, NC and passed away Monday, March 7, 2016. He was the son of the late William Crawford Foster and Meda Lusk Foster. Melvin was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved traveling with his wife. He loved his church, children and grandchildren. Melvin was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Cayce Masonic Lodge, American Legion in Cayce and Teamsters Union #509.
He is survived by, his wife of 62 years, Lib Wood Foster of Lexington; daughter, Vicki Foster Shafer (Doug) of West Columbia; son, Melvin Lee Foster (Sheila) of Lexington; grandchildren, Amanda Marie Atwell (Kevin Queen) of West Columbia, Steven Lee Atwell, Jr., (Lisa) of Lexington, Madison Foster Thomasson (Ryan) of TN, and Grace Foster Hoyt (Travis) of Lexington; step-granddaughter, Kristy Ann Taylor (Ronnie); great-grandchild, Owen Lee Atwell; step-great grandsons, Zeb and Trig Taylor; brother, William “Hop” Harold Foster (Rita); and numerous nieces and nephews.
