Richard worked many years at SE Tool and Dye before learning a trade in Construction with Gail and Don Funderburg during Hurricane Hugo. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar and Sunday meals with his family. As most people knew, Richard would light up the room when he entered. He knew no stranger and would give his last dollar to any person in need. He would also help people in his neighborhood in keeping their lawns well maintained. He will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his sister, Kira Cantey Ptachcinski and her spouse, Niel.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robbie Cantey and Irene Cantey Crump; and his brothers, Alex, Wayne and Todd.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel.
