Robert Lewis Shannon

COLUMBIA - Robert Lewis Shannon, age 58, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014. He was born December 3, 1955 in Columbia, South Carolina. Robert was loved by so many and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He had a love for life, family, friends and his canine companions and he enjoyed being a practical joker. His favorite things were family, music, movies, and riding his trike.

While working in the family business, Shannon Heating & Air, he met many people and made a lot of friends. Everyone's support through the last few trying years will always be remembered and appreciated.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Gloria Shannon, and their two children, Brandi Close (Chris) and Michael Shannon. In addition, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother and father, Glenn and Frances Shannon; his sisters, Melinda Rucker (Shorty), Cathy Shannon, Kim Corbett (Gary); his brother, Billy Shannon (Chrissy); his six grandchildren, Austin, Griffin, Torin, Kellin, Ava, Riley; his lifelong friend, Randy Martin; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Robert is reunited with his younger brother, Rusty Shannon.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Columbia, SC 29204.
