WEST COLUMBIA – Funeral services for Ruth Wilson Carroll, 87, formerly of Dallas, Texas, will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, April 14, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Chapel.
Ruth was born September 26, 1926 in Columbus, GA and passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. She was a daughter of the late John and Thelma Hartley. Ruth was a wonderful writer. She wrote music, song lyrics, short stories and poems. She enjoyed dancing and sang all the time. Ruth loved nature, flowers, plants and playing in the dirt. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruth had a gentle heart and the softest skin. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She loved her Lord and never lost Faith.
Ruth is survived by her son, Michael Vernon Carroll of Elgin; daughters, Susan Carol Hornsby (Billy) of Swansea, Donna Jill Wilson of Dallas, TX, Miriam Virginia Cribbs (Mike) of Elgin, Melanie Verna Hughes of Hopkins, Mary Valentina Morgan (Joe) of Columbia; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and many wonderful people she loved. She is predeceased by husbands, Grady Smothers, Jack Wilson, M.V. Carroll and a son, Mark Victor Carroll.
